Non-Resident Business Number And IOR (Importer of Record) Registration

NOTICE: CBSA has recently revoked the authority of Canadian brokers to apply for IORs on behalf of both Resident and Non-Resident Companies. Consequently, the process has been altered. To facilitate the registration of the POA and establish your clients' business for customs clearance, they must now procure the Business number (BN) and IOR# independently.

For non Canadian businesses, Below is the link for reference. We advise accessing the “Get Ready To Register” link initially, as the primary link lacks a back button for corrections. If you already possess a BN and only require an RM account, you can directly register with the CBSA.

Before filling out the registration form:

For non-resident businesses registering for the GST/HST, refer to “Get ready to register for the GST/HST” on the website linked with the button below.

  • Ensure you have all necessary information on hand.

  • Note that you cannot save information during the registration process, and it must be completed in one session.

  • The registration form will time out after 30 minutes of inactivity.

  • Avoid using the "Back" button in your web browser; instead, utilize the "Previous" button to navigate.
